Comparative Anatomy
Comparative anatomy is a hands-on class for students in grades 6-9. This survey course will introduce students to the various features and lifecycles of common animals and provide them with hands on laboratory experience through the dissection of ascaris, earthworm, crayfish, squid, and frog. There is simply no better way to learn about animals than by observing them closely.
In addition to the hands on learning lab students will have access to a special virtual classroom featuring multimedia instruction on the invertebrate groups we will be observing. These lessons will prepare students for the dissection activities the following day and provide an opportunity for interaction with their classmates. I have spent several years developing these resources and am excited to share them with you! Taking part in virtual instruction is an important experience for students of all ages as the trend toward virtual instruction at all levels gains momentum.
The cost for this class is $125 plus a materials fee of $10. Students working in pairs can reduce the lab fee to $5/student. Sign up with a friend! All classes will be held in the biology lab at Southfield Christian School.
Technology Requirements: In order to access the virtual classroom students will need high speed internet access.
