Like other types of pupae, the chrysalis stage in most butterflies is one in which there is little movement. However, some butterfly pupae are capable of moving the abdominal segments to produce sounds or to scare away potential predators.

Human Anatomy

Human anatomy is a brief overview of the 11 body systems for students in grades 8-12. This survey course will introduce students to the complexity of the human body and provide them with hands on laboratory experience featuring the dissection of a brain, eye, heart, and rat.

In addition to the hands on learning lab students will have access to a special virtual classroom featuring multimedia instruction on the 11 body systems. These lessons will prepare students for the dissection activities the following day and provide an opportunity for interaction with their classmates. I have spent several years developing these resources and am excited to share them with you! Taking part in virtual instruction is an important experience for students of all ages as the trend toward virtual instruction at all levels gains momentum.

The cost for this class is $125 plus a materials fee of $15. Students working in pairs can reduce the lab fee to $7.50/student. Sign up with a friend! All classes will be held in the biology lab at Southfield Christian School (map).

Technology Requirements: In order to access the virtual classroom students will need high speed internet access.
